My inspiration to paint comes from the pleasure nature brings to me. I experience nature through my senses. The feeling of the wind on my skin, the brightness of the sunlight, the sounds of the birds, and the colors of the nature around me are all elements that inspire me. This is how I discover the essence of what l see and this is what I paint. I want my audience to see that same essence, whether it is the strength of an old-growth forest or the playfulness of a field of sunflowers. My use of vibrant colors make my paintings even more fun and fanciful.
My goal is to capture the essence of the animals and the landscapes I am painting. I always start my paintings of animals with the eyes - because I believe that if I capture the personality of the eyes I will get individuality of the subject. I enjoy painting peoples pets because they are often a main part of the family and the portrait will be a cherished family keepsake.
One of the processes I use in my paintings involve liquid acrylics and credit cards rather than brushes. Using cards enables me to apply the paint randomly.
